Learning to Love New England- One Scoop at a Time

Transitioning from my home state of Colorado to Massachusetts was hard. I miss the mountains and all of the small things that make my home so, well, homey. But after living on the East Coast for three years, I will say that it is has grown on me. Who can deny the beauty of the fall foliage and the Atlantic Ocean? And, while these things factored into my growing love for my new home, it's safe to say there is another key player. By the title of my post you have probably already guessed it. That's right, ice cream. The cold and sweet treat has played a defining role in my journey to loving New England.

With a childhood filled of generic brands and chain ice cream shops that inhabit Western Colorado, I simply cannot get enough of the local mom and pop ice cream stores that are so numerous in this area. Within only a 12 minute drive from campus, I have my choice of deliciously local ice cream shops including Flint Farms, Uncle Eds, and my recent favorite, Bliss Bros Dairy.

Can you believe this gem is only 12 minutes from campus?!

Located in nearby Attleboro, the family-owned restaurant and dairy company has been serving locals since the early 1900's!! Anytime I get that sweet-tooth craving or just want to get off campus for a little, I hit the back roads that lead past the Norton-Attleboro border to enjoy a scoop at Bliss Bros. There is one fallback, however... I can never choose which flavor to get! With dozens of unique flavors and seasonal ice creams like the fan favorites, pumpkin and caramel apple, it is no simple task making a decision. But, in the end, it is nice to know that there are no bad decisions when it comes to a scoop of yummy Bliss.
A scoop of the "Milky Way"- malt ice cream, chocolate, toffee , and caramel swirls.

While New England may never move in front my hometown on my list of favorite places, there is no debate that it holds the number one spot for ice cream.

To try some of Bliss Bros' delightfully delicious ice cream for yourself and to test your driving skills on the back roads of Norton, check out their website and head on over!
